Support Services Coordinator

Summary

The Support Services Coordinator is responsible for various processes pertaining to completion of domestic and international bills of lading, invoices, arrival notices for all manifested shipments where Trailer Bridge is responsible.  This includes documentation, application of contract rates or tariff rates, processing invoices, generating arrival notices, timely communications to various regulatory agencies, communications with customers, validating information, performing quality assurance or other tasks as needed.

 Documentation and Invoicing 
  • Review premanifest lists, stow plan lists and manifests to ensure all boarded shipments, northbound and southbound are appropriately documented, invoiced and and notified to the customer
  • Prepare and enter all description information for accurate completion of the ocean bill of lading.
  • Validates all data elements for accuracy against shippers paperwork and questions or escalates any inconsistency with the Account Manager or customer to ensure efficient exportation of cargo and ensuring that service commitments are achieved and maintained.
  • Provides clients with advice concerning terms of delivery, payment, insurance and ancillary services affecting the client’s needs.
  • Issues and submits documentation in compliance with all relevant laws and processes
  • Document shipments per regulatory guidelines including but not limited to In Bond, USDA, US Customs, Hazardous, Schedule B and HTS Code requirements.
  • Regularly follow up with customers and Account Managers regarding customer inquiries, problem solving needs regarding discrepancies to ensure deadlines are met and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures appropriate application of rates to customer invoices per Trailer Bridge pricing contracts/tariffs
  • Ensure documentation status reports are updated timely.
  • Issue invoicing, attaching back up paperwork when required, as per customer profiles when assigned.

  • Maintain high accuracy scores for bills of ladings and invoices.
  • Continually pursue cross training within the department and organization.

Qualifications
  • 3-4 years previous experience in documentation and rating in the marine or other applicable industry.
  • Familiarity with applicable regulations and customs reporting and filing requirements
  • Strong PC and software skills, preferably in an AS400 environment, as well as a working knowledge of Excel spreadsheet development
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluency in English and Spanish preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree a plus

Vessel Maintenance Technician

Summary

Trailer Bridge is looking for energetic, talented, self-motivated go-getters to join our growing team.  As a Vessel Maintenance Technician you will have the opportunity to develop a successful and energetic career and be given the tools and training to “Make it Happen”.  In this role you will operate and maintain the Ro/Ro barge systems and controls in order to meet sailing schedules in a timely manner.   This role also performs barge arrival and departure requirements, and also performs preventive maintenance on other related equipment as needed.  We are excited and ready to bring new members on the team who are eager to learn and are passionate about their personal growth, while making TB the customer’s first choice.

Essential Functions

Operates and maintains vessel equipment, including but not limited to:

  • Diesel-powered electrical generating equipment, switchgear and distribution systems
  • Air compressors
  • Electrical and electro-hydraulic ballast pumps
  • Conduct inspection of each arriving barge, verifying condition and operation of systems and equipment
  • Conduct routine maintenance on installed barge systems
  • Maintain and repair triplestack box carrier/LoLo barges
  • Clean barge of trash, rigging equipment, and other debris to ensure proper drainage
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
  • Handles other duties as assigned by the Port Engineer or Manager.
  • Follows written procedures as documented in the Trailer Bridge ISO 9001:2000 quality processes.

Qualifications
  • 2-3 years related maritime experience
  • Must possess or be qualified to obtain a TWIC badge, as it is a requirement to gain access to the Port
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess valid driver’s license
  • Good communications skills, written and oral
  • Hands-on mechanical experience in maintaining vessels
  • Strong technical knowledge of barges and tugs
  • Knowledgeable of maritime material handling functions;
    • Use of tide tables, to enable proficient ballasting operations
    • Rigging of towing gear, winches, and hoisting equipment
    • Marlinspike seamanship, mooring lines, and hardware
  • Ability to operate mechanical equipment, including forklifts and cranes
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical activity.
  • Marine mechanic with electrical and welding skills preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills in lift equipment and safety operations or forklift certifications and licenses.
