Trailer Bridge Named #1 Place to Work in Jacksonville, Florida

Beloved Shipping and Logistics Company Awarded Score of 92.6/100 by Jacksonville Business Journal in ‘Best Places to Work – Large’

[JACKSONVILLE, FL – June 26, 2020] – The management team and staff at Trailer Bridge Inc. are thrilled to accept Jacksonville Business Journal’s #1 award in the ‘Best Places to Work 2020’ rankings.

Previously celebrated as a top Jacksonville workplace from 2016 to 2018, Trailer Bridge was also recognized recently as the ‘Best-in-Class Ocean Freight Carrier’ in Logistics Management’s Quest for Quality Awards. This spring, Inc. Magazine named Trailer Bridge a ‘Best Workplace for 2020’ thanks to the company’s exceptional culture and employee engagement.

“We are extremely grateful to our incredible team members who make us the great place to work that we are. We also want to send our sincere thanks to Jacksonville Business Journal’s ‘Best Places to Work’ researchers, organizers, and sponsors. It’s a huge honor and goes a long way in affirming what our team here already know: we have something truly special and unique here,” said Indie Bollman, VP of Corporate Development at Trailer Bridge.

Trailer Bridge a Modern Day Company Culture Success Story

Mitch Luciano joined the company in 2014 while Trailer Bridge was still looking for their way. Fresh off the reign of four CEOs and four HR directors since emerging from bankruptcy just three years prior, the business was plagued by low employee trust and morale, a lack of communication, and a reputation as a low cost, low service logistics provider.

Luciano knew a radical change was in order.

“It was clear to me from the beginning that Trailer Bridge needed a massive injection of love and energy,” Luciano reflected in a written statement. “We immediately began incorporating a new philosophy of listening and caring for our team, modeled around Steve Farber’s extreme leadership LEAP—Love, Energy, Audacity, and Proof—and remain committed to those qualities to this day. In fact, this model of kindness became the basis of our incredibly successful Leadership Development Program.”

‘Best Places to Work’ Score Reflects Outstanding Culture at Trailer Bridge

JBJ’s ‘Best Places to Work’ researchers factor quality of life initiatives and anonymous employee feedback into each company’s BPTW Score. These include:
–  tuition reimbursement
–  off-site happy hours
–  paid time off for community service
–  casual dress code
–  work from home/remote work availability
–  time for healthy activities at work

Trailer Bridge offers employees all of the above in addition to ongoing training and development, six types of insurance coverage, retirement saving plan(s), parental and maternal leave, flexible spending and health savings accounts, and the Trailer Bridge Leadership Development Program.

The company was awarded a score of 92.559 of a possible 100 points.

Trailer Bridge Announces Launch of Business-Building ‘National Agent Program’

May 14, 2020, Jacksonville, Florida — Award-winning transportation and shipping company Trailer Bridge today announced the launch of a National Agent Program that gives partners across North America access to industry-leading logistics, transportation and supply chain services. Under the agency program, business development agents connect potential customers with Trailer Bridge, which handles the rest of the transaction from contracting through to managing and invoicing the freight services.

“Now, more than ever, the supply chain is critical. Even while many transportation providers are reducing their workforce or closing doors due to COVID-19, manufacturers still need to supply goods and services quickly, safely and securely,” Mitch Luciano President and CEO of Trailer Bridge shared in a written statement. “We take pride in offering an exceptional service that manufacturers can rely on. It’s a standard we’ve proven over time and recently earned the Trailer Bridge team a Quest for Quality award, as well.”

Trailer Bridge’s National Agent Program addresses the increasing demand for logistics services while simplifying the process of onboarding, deploying and managing the customer’s supply chain. It enables agents to offer industry-leading transportation solutions to customers including end-to-end logistics services for Truckload, Intermodal, Ocean, LTL, Expedited, and Warehousing, with booking and support provided directly by Trailer Bridge.

“We launched this Program to provide business development professionals with the opportunity to continue to respond to their customers and suppliers, and to support the current disruptions many are facing in supply chain,” stated Eric Masotti, Vice President of Logistics for Trailer Bridge.  He added, “The program is structured to provide agents with maximum success through immediate access to technology, tools and marketing materials along with uncapped commissions from the start.”

The company has already received a great deal of interest from the market with the new program. They are in the process of registering new agents who in turn expand their reach by selling Trailer Bridge logistics and transportation services across North America.

Luciano said, “Even with the interruptions experienced by many in the market, sales and support functions remain a critical segment in the supply chain ecosystem. For Trailer Bridge, it makes perfect sense to address market trends on the front-end, where customers are relying on suppliers, as well as on the back-end where they demand a consistent structure of comprehensive service delivery and support.  Especially now, customers need a transportation partner they can count on long-term and our National Agent Program helps both the independent business development agent and their customers.”

Specializing in over the road trucking and ocean shipping services across North America and the Caribbean, Trailer Bridge is an award-winning transportation provider most recently recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the Best Workplaces in 2020. The company has opened nine new offices in the last year.

Trailer Bridge Recognized By Inc. Magazine as a Best Workplace for 2020

Recording a 93.43 out of a possible 100, Trailer Bridge is one of the highest-scoring businesses in America delivering exceptional employee engagement

May 6, 2020, Jacksonville, Florida – Trailer Bridge is proud to announce it has been named to Inc. magazine’s annual list of Best Workplaces for 2020.  The list is the result of a wide-ranging and comprehensive measurement of American companies that have created exceptional workplaces through vibrant cultures, deep employee engagement, and stellar benefits.

Collecting data from thousands of submissions, Inc. singled out 389 finalists for this year’s list. Each nominated company took part in an employee survey, conducted by Quantum Workplace, on topics including trust, management effectiveness, perks, engagement, and confidence in the future. Inc. gathered, analyzed, and audited the data, ranking the finalists using a composite score of survey results.

The strongest engagement scores came from companies that prioritize the most human elements of work. These companies are leading the way in employee recognition, performance management, and diversity. It is a different playbook from a decade ago, when too many firms used the same template: free food, open work environments, and artifacts of “fun.”

“Our people are devoted to making Trailer Bridge the best workplace around, and I am so proud of each and every one of our team members for creating a culture where people love coming to work,” shared Trailer Bridge CEO, Mitch Luciano. “Even during this pivotal time in our history, we’re still having fun together.   It’s humbling to see the commitment by our team to remain fully engaged in order to serve our customers and each other side-by-side, as we deliver the essential supplies needed to support our families, our communities and our economy,” shared Trailer Bridge CEO Mitch Luciano.

“I am proud to witness this exceptional strength and commitment to keeping supply chains moving for the livelihood of others. This is our culture and this is exactly why we’ve earned this prestigious award,” Luciano continued.

“Building a great corporate culture comes only from strong leadership,” says Inc. magazine editor-in-chief Scott Omelianuk. “The companies on Inc.’s Best Workplaces list are setting an example that the whole country can learn from, especially now, when company culture is more important to the workforce than ever.”

An award-winning transportation provider for services and workplace culture, Trailer Bridge serves companies across all industries with over the road trucking and ocean shipping across North America and the Caribbean.

Trailer Bridge Container Shipments Increase from Port of Santo Domingo

April 30, 2020, Jacksonville, Florida — Trailer Bridge operations in the Dominican Republic continue to gain momentum with a 37 percent increase in container volumes from its Santo Domingo port since February.  The transportation service leader’s combined fleet of 53-foot and 40-foot containers supports the export of goods manufactured in the Dominican Republic’s Free Trade Zone and shipped to the United States, including critical medical supplies.

“We’re shipping containers full of high-value medical supplies, so operating from a highly secure port with less congestion is essential to our operations and, of course, to our customers,” Jeff Vaughn, Chief Commercial Officer of Trailer Bridge, shared in a written statement.

Trailer Bridge is the only container line servicing the United States from the highly secure San Souci Terminal at the Port of Santo Domingo.

“We’re experiencing growth through the Port of Santo Domingo right now, particularly with critical medical-grade supplies to support the US response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Vaughn continued. “Many people rely on the products we ship for the medical industry, so schedule integrity is key,” he said.

Trailer Bridge sails twice weekly from Santo Domingo to Jacksonville, Florida, where cargo containers are then transported by rail or truck to their final stateside destination.      Trailer Bridge recently added      300 new ocean shipping containers and 297 chassis to its fleet, which brings the company’s combined 40-foot and 53-foot container fleet to more than 3,500 units between the continental United States and the Caribbean. The company’s 53-foot containers offer 37 percent more volume than the standard 40-foot’ container, which      lowers the per-unit      shipment cost for customers, reduces the overall supply chain footprint, and shortens the time to deliver to the end-user.

An award-winning transportation provider, Trailer Bridge offers over the road trucking and ocean shipping across North America and the Caribbean.

Trailer Bridge has been actively shipping relief goods to the citizens of Puerto Rico on their multiple weekly sailings from Jacksonville, FL to San Juan, PR.  With the increased weekly liner capacity Trailer Bridge will be able to provide another 300 containers, equating to an additional 13.5mm lbs. of relief goods, on top of the millions and millions already being sent.   In an effort to ensure operations in San Juan continue to operate at full capacity, the Trailer Bridge Puerto Rico-based family, as well as their family members, have been provided with the critical necessities, such as power, fuel, food, water, etc.. According to Mitch Luciano, CEO, “As soon as it was clear that Hurricane Maria was headed to Puerto Rico, we began filling containers with goods for our team and their families there.  It was important to us, to not only support our family there, but to also ensure we sustained full operations for our customers and the relief effort of Puerto Rico.”  Luciano added, “We have been working very hard to make sure the needs of all Puerto Ricans are met with the additional capacity being added”.

According to the National Weather Service, Hurricane Maria, which passed over Puerto Rico on September 20, 2017, was the worst hurricane in nearly 90 years for the island.  Areas along the center of the hurricane left behind catastrophic damage and flooding, as well as a loss of power and utilities to the island’s nearly 3.5 million residents.

Luciano continued, “With the amount of damage left behind by Hurricane Maria, it is clear that it will take some time for the island to rebuild.  We have seen an enormous outpouring of support for the people of Puerto Rico, our team there, and thank everyone that has supported them and their loved ones.  The efforts of many to help communities on the island, along with the incredible spirit and strength of the Puerto Rico citizens will no doubt see them through this challenging time.  Our hearts are with all of the people of Puerto Rico.  We are proud to stand firm with them during this time and grateful for the opportunity to provide the relief they need and deserve.”

Correa’s parents, Sandybel Oppenheimer and Carlos A. Correa, as well as his siblings Jean C. Correa and Leibysand Correa, traveled from Houston to be part of the initiative and spend some time with the participating families. “When we felt the impact of delivering beds to children who did not have adequate sleeping accommodations in Houston and saw the joy in their faces, I always wanted to replicate this experience for the children of my Puerto Rico. I will like to say a warm thank you to all the organizations and companies that joined us to achieve the success of this project,” said a very excited Carlos Correa from Houston.

A few months ago the Correa family contacted the Salvation Army of Puerto Rico and asked them for help in identifying families in need, and that’s how a list of over 200 cases of children without adequate beds was created.  Thanks to the outreach of the organization, the generosity of the Correa family and the private companies involved, it was possible to reach eleven towns and touch many lives. “In the Salvation Army, we are delighted that tonight our kids will rest in a comfortable bed, but even better that that, the excitement to have received this great gift from an athlete like Carlos Correa, their hero.
