Through the generosity of Trailer Bridge, the Ruthie Claire Simon Scholarship will be awarded to a high school female soccer player who will keep Ruthie’s memory alive.

We will begin accepting applications in Fall 2026 to find our next scholarship recipient.

About the Scholarship.

The Ruthie Claire Simon Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Ruthie Claire Simon, who was delivered stillborn on December 19, 2021. Both of her parents were collegiate soccer players, and this scholarship has been created to honor who her parents imagine she would have been. Through the generosity of Trailer Bridge, this scholarship will be awarded to a High School female soccer player who will keep Ruthie’s memory alive.

Who Can Apply?

Any graduating high school female soccer athlete from Clay, Duval, and St. Johns counties.

Important Information.

Eligibility Requirements.

All applicants must be a graduating female high school soccer athlete from Clay, Duval, and St. Johns counties, demonstrate a minimum 3.0 grade point average in High School, demonstrate a financial need, demonstrate care for the larger community through documented community service hours, be accepted to a four-year university or college as a full-time student, and complete the online application prior to the deadline.

Scholarship Amount.

Each scholarship year, i.e. every four years, Trailer Bridge will award, at their sole discretion, one $40,000.00 scholarship to one applicant that meets the eligibility requirements to assist with costs in attending the college or university of their choice. The award will be distributed in four equal payments of $10,000.00 each year that the student is enrolled in the college or university, with a cap at four years. Trailer Bridge reserves the right to change any aspect of the scholarship program with reasonable notice.

Submission Deadline.

We will begin accepting applications in Fall 2026 to find our next scholarship recipient.

All applicants must return the completed application, along with the requested documentation by the application deadline. The application should be submitted via the online portal.

Recipient Responsibility and Honor.

The scholarship recipient is expected to, maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average during college, perform, and submit proof of, 20 hours of community service by December 31 of each calendar year, and maintain a status of good standing with their selected college or university.

Failure to comply with the above responsibilities may result in the revocation of the scholarship.

Selection Process.

We will begin accepting applications in Fall 2026 to find our next scholarship recipient.

The top two candidates will be interviewed by the Ruthie Claire Simon Scholarship Selection Committee. All applicants will receive notification of the award decision after the completion of all interviews.
