Trailer Bridge Brooklyn Bridge Incident
On the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 11, the Trailer Bridge barge, the Brooklyn Bridge, encountered severe winds enroute to Puerto Rico resulting in a tow wire failure that caused the vessel to ground off the coast of The Bahamas.
Dive inspections have confirmed no damage to the vessel, and all cargo remains safely secured onboard. Currently, there is no evidence of environmental impacts. A salvage team is working to safely refloat the vessel and continue its voyage to Puerto Rico upon approval from all regulatory agencies.
“Our priority is ensuring the safety of our people, cargo, and the environment. Our team is in close communication with customers impacted and our regulatory agencies as we work around the clock to mitigate the incident,” said Trailer Bridge CEO Mitch Luciano.
Trailer Bridge, Inc., is an asset-based transportation provider headquartered in Jacksonville, FL. The company operates two roll-on, roll-off vessels and two load-on, load-off vessels between Jacksonville and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
