UPDATE: Jones Act Barge, Brooklyn Bridge, Back in Jacksonville; Only 11 Containers Remained Unopened & Trailer Bridge Cleaning Up Bahamas Reef
[THURSDAY: November 20, 2025] Trailer Bridge announced today that their Jones Act barge, Brooklyn Bridge, is back in the Port of Jacksonville and has been fully disembarked. The company thanked the US Coast Guard for supporting the barge’s return and the other US officials who responded quickly to ensure the safety of the tug crew and the cargo following looting in the Bahamas on November 13th.
Trailer Bridge CEO Mitch Luciano said, “As of today, the barge is fully unloaded and we documented that only 11 containers remained sealed. The remaining 181 containers on the barge were opened by looters and we are now working through a detailed inspection of each container to inventory what was taken. We are also in the process of managing a cleanup of the reef where the barge was located off of the Bahamas, to remove any debris thrown overboard. This cleanup is being conducted at our expense and we expect it to conclude this week.”
Luciano added, “We informed our customers that the detailed inventory we are conducting is estimated to take a few weeks. This process is underway now with our insurance carriers and we are working quickly to itemize each container so we identify what customer goods were taken. Our goal is to return the remaining goods to their owners as soon as possible.”
Trailer Bridge, Inc., is an asset-based, Jones Act transportation provider headquartered in Jacksonville, FL. The company operates two roll-on, roll-off vessels and two load-on, load-off vessels between Jacksonville and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
