Trailer Bridge Expands Partnership with Curtin Maritime for Puerto Rico Tug Services

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – September 29, 2026  – Trailer Bridge, Inc. announced a three-year agreement with Curtin Maritime to provide tug services for the company’s two load-on, load-off (LoLo) barges supporting its Jones Act service between Jacksonville and San Juan, Puerto Rico. The partnership is part of Trailer Bridge’s ongoing efforts to strengthen schedule integrity and deliver more consistent service for customers.

Curtin currently provides tug service for one of Trailer Bridge’s LoLo barges with the Corinne C. The Mabel C will enter the trade following completion of her current dry dock period in mid-October, giving Curtin responsibility for towing both LoLo barges under the long-term agreement.

Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Long Beach, Calif., Curtin Maritime is an American-owned marine transportation company providing towing and other maritime services. Curtin has previously supported Trailer Bridge operations, and the new agreement builds on that relationship with a shared long-term commitment to the Puerto Rico trade.

The Curtin agreement is the latest in a series of investments Trailer Bridge is making to strengthen its Jacksonville-to-Puerto Rico service. In 2026, the company invested approximately $9 million in scheduled dry dock work and upgrades across its two roll-on, roll-off (RoRo) barges. Trailer Bridge also entered a 10-year partnership with Ports America in August to support its Jacksonville terminal operation, including stevedoring services and the future implementation of Dockworks terminal operating technology.

Together, these investments across Trailer Bridge’s vessels, tug and terminal operations, and technology are focused on strengthening schedule integrity, improving the customer experience and reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to Puerto Rico.

Trailer Bridge operates the only weekly Jones Act barge service between Jacksonville and San Juan, moving containerized, vehicle, temperature-controlled and non-containerized cargo between the U.S. mainland and Puerto Rico.
